From the serene golden light on the Burns Monument to the storm-swept drama of Tam o’ Shanter’s escape, this Art Clock is a horological Address to Scotland’s National Bard. And to match the scale of the spectacle, we are offering this edition in our commanding Giant-size as well as our classic Regular – marking the return of our largest Art Clock canvas.
Unlike any other Bramwell Brown ever made, this release forecasts the weather through language as well as art. Coming and going behind every individually numbered face is Robert Burns’s own handwriting. Lifted from his private notebooks, traditional barometric terms are replaced by his own 'Yon sun', 'Green grow the rashes-o', 'Wind can blaw', 'Rattling showers' and 'Tempest's roar'.
And you need not be a Burns scholar to own this piece of cultural history or be lost for words when admirers ask about it, as every clock arrives with a specially pagemarked book of The Bard's poetry and song. This ingenious companion links the handwriting and artwork on your clock's dial directly to the specific stanzas and National Trust for Scotland oil paintings that inspired them.
- A clock and a collaboration we are proud of: Every clock sold supports the National Trust for Scotland's mission to conserve the nation’s natural and cultural heritage for generations to come.
- Available in Giant-size: For the first time in many years, we are offering a new release in our renowned Giant size (53cm / 21" diameter). This is a hugely impressive standalone piece of kinetic art for your wall.
- And also in Regular-size: For those with not quite so much wall space to fill, the Regular size, at 33cm (13") diameter is big enough to work as a totally unique focal point in a room and small enough to sit alongside other wall art and furnishings.
- Weather forecasting 18th & 19th Century Art: The weather scenes are expertly pieced together from the National Trust for Scotland's curated collections - treasure troves of artworks adorning the walls of their museums, castles and houses. The scenery changes with the barometric air pressure, offering five different depictions of epic Scottish landscapes that also indicate a handy weather forecast for the day ahead.
- Knowledgeably explain the clock and its heritage: Each clock comes with "The Complete Poems & Songs of Robert Burns" that has been brilliantly pagemarked to link each of the five the scenes: 'Yon sun', 'Green grow the rashes-o', 'Wind can blaw', 'Rattling showers' and 'Tempest's roar' to their original poem stanza or song.
- Future Family Heirloom: Each clock is numbered on the face to give even more providence after it leaves our workshop. An object to treasure for generations.
- Peace of Mind: Reflecting the trust we put in our dedicated workshop team and the quality of our clocks, every one comes with a two-year warranty, easily extendable to four years by registering your purchase.
- Hand Assembled in Great Britain
All of the Caledonian Heritage Weather Art Clocks are made at our workshop in Hampshire, Great Britain. Skilled and delicate work. - Warrantied & Sustainable Design
All our clocks come with a full warranty as standard, extendable to two years. We’ve designed the clock for a very long life in your home. And it’s fully serviceable (if it ever needs to be) – with all the parts available from our UK-based workshop. - Watch the Transformation
Want to show off your clock's epic scenery? Don’t wait for the weather to change, just press the demonstration button on the base of the frame to make the scenes come alive – then watch the reaction from friends and family. - Iconic Scottish Art
The five illustrated scenes are expertly pieced together from the National Trust for Scotland's historic collections. As the air pressure changes, your clock will decide if it needs to show you fair or stormier scenes! - Easy to Hang (Indoors!)
A single screw in the wall can hold the clock and you get a nifty hanging guide in the box. This clock is for indoor use only – just please don't hang it within 50cm (20 inches) of a radiator. The delicate barometric mechanics don’t enjoy direct heat. - Certificate of Authenticity
A mark of its unique provenance, your clock's certificate will be hand-numbered and signed to confirm its status as a limited edition timepiece created in partnership with the The National Trust for Scotland. - 60-day Returns, So You Can Be Sure It’s Right For You
