The Bramwell Brown Blog
Meet the Blogger and their Weather Clock - Cara Sutherland
This week we are meeting lifestyle blogger Cara Sutherland from Within these walls...
Can you tell us a bit about your blog please?
Within these walls is an interior and lifestyle blog which has just had its fourth birthday. It is a place where I share all the things I love from fashion to renovating our home.
What's your favourite room in the house and why?
I really love the dining room because it has bags of wow factor period features such as an inglenook fireplace and beams but it works really well with more contemporary furniture too. The room has a grown up feel to it and during the day I use it as my office then in the evenings the boys pile in from school and we all eat dinner together. I would say it has become the heart of our home.
Where do you hang your Bramwell Brown Weather Clock and why?
It has been hung in the dining room as this is the part of the house that is the most social. I love that the clock is a real talking point. (Isn’t the weather always a talking point!)
Can you sum your Bramwell Brown Weather Clock up in three words?
Fun, Chic and a Statement
Any tips for incorporating clocks into your interior design?
For me I like to hang clocks in parts of the room that are the most visible. Mostly due to the practicality of being able to quickly check the time but when they are a statement time piece like the Bramwell brown weather clock why not give it centre stage.
What are the big interior trends that we should be looking out for in the second half of 2018?
We are going to be moving away from greys over the next year and you will see an increase in warmer neutrals again. This year has seen a huge focus on natural materials such has wicker baskets and lampshades and I see that continuing into next year too. That has also been because we are now focusing more on using sustainable products in our homes.
Finally, we love mechanical/ analogue objects; what mechanical/ analogue do you have in your home or remember from your childhood that you love(d)?
I have a shelf full of old Polaroid cameras that I absolutely adore! Thank you!
